- Stye: A stye is characterized by a tiny bump at the edge of the eye, or on the eyelid. It is a bacterial infection of the oil glands around the eyes and is typically not contagious, but can be quite painful.
- Trachoma: This is also an infection of the eye that is typically caused by poor eye hygiene and sanitation. It is becoming one of the leading causes of blindness, especially in under-developed countries. It is very contagious.
- Uveitis: This eye disorder occurs in the middle coat of the eye. It affects the blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients to the eye, and could thus be an indication of bigger eye problems.
Most eye disorder, can be effectively when treated early. Hence, patients should have their eyes inspected regularly.
